This site is devoted to the media works of Jeff
Green.
It is optimized for Netscape 3.0. and IE 4.0
You may view the site on black or white. Wherever you see a dot like this: in the upper right corner of a page you can click it to switch to the opposite background. If a page is part of a framed area you can click on this icon: to view the page without the frame, and this icon: to return to the frame environment.
The radio dramas may be listened to in their entirety through something called HTTP streaming, which is pretty well
the same as normal RealAudio except you can't skip ahead to any point in
the file you want. You will still need a RealAudio plug-in on your
browser, and clicking on the file will direct you to the download page
if you don't have it installed.
The Cowboy Who? pages have RealVideo files for which you will also need the RealPlayer.
Zgreen #3 (interactive poetry) and the Audio page have
Shockwave Flash files, for which you will also need a plug-in, and which
will also automatically direct you to a download page.
Graphically many pages have animated GIFs, which
cannot be handled by all browsers, and those with slower connections may
find the load time excessive. Many of the pages also utilize Javascript for rollovers.
JAVASCRIPT NOTE: Move your cursor over the
black space above the text on the preceding entry page. If no other images
become visible (or just to look at cause it's kinda cool) then try the
Java-free homepage.
Even for browsers that can handle Javascript
the scripted elements may cause the download to freeze. At these times
you can usually click on the image to reload the page.
The novel pages ("Spaxter") load, in your browser's
default font, with background images which increase reading difficulty
but also texturize the experience to enhance the narrative. It is designed
for the kind of short reading sessions common to web usage. If serious
reading is desired it is recommended you capture the text and bring it
up in your favourite word processor, or read the novel without backgrounds
on the White Site.
